Child Welfare Practice SEUM is a non-government and non-profit organization established in 2015 to advocate the rights of children of the incarcerated.

There have been no organizations in Korea focusing on only children of the incarcerated from the perspective of child welfare and child rights until SEUM started its works in 2015. Traditionally, the need for family support of the incarcerated has been approached for the correction of the imprisoned. However, SEUM has its focus on only child rights and welfare.

Since its establishment in 2015, SEUM has consistently met with children of the incarcerated, practicing based on the principle of the best interests of the child and the children's human rights. By the end of June 2024, SEUM has worked for about 300 children and their families per month.

In addition, SEUM’s macroscopic activities have helped to restore the broken family relationship between children and their imprisoned parents, and to change government policy on children and families of the incarcerated. Like this, SEUM’s activities have led to social change through social impact.

SEUM approaches the prisoner's child problem from a child-centered perspective.

All we do is value a little child. SEUM’s "child-centered" is to meet and establish each and every person for the world where the prisoners' children stand confidently.

The children of the prisoners want to stand confidently.

It is not easy to change the whole society, but it is possible to change and grow the inner side of each person.

EUM hopes that the prisoner's children will restore their existential pride, overcome the obstacles of prejudice and discrimination in the world, and proudly step on the path given to them.

Until the day the frame of the prisoner's child disappears. We will listen more to the children of the prisoners who stand up so that their suffering is not blocked by the walls of discrimination and prejudice.
