We have scholarship program for the children of the incarcerated on monthly basis.
11,121 families with children received the scholarship until 2023, and about 300 children are getting scholarships every month.
SEUM does crisis intervention services for the children and family in trouble caused by family member’s imprisonment, by providing the expenses for medical treatment, legal support, and housing, etc.
We have three kinds of individual counselling services.
First is general counseling by our staff usually through a phone call; second is psychological counseling by a professional counselor. For this, we have a special room for psychological counseling and arts psychotherapy in our office. Now, three professional counselors visit our office to meet the children and the family in need. Third and lastly, we support children and families who are far from our office with information and counseling fees at the local counseling centers.
SEUM has been steadily conducting youth activity programs.
One group built relationships through regular meetings once a month and participated in various activities such as the Vietnam Volunteer Camp(2017), the photo shooting activity and exhibition(2018), and Cultural Experience and Volunteer Camp in Mongolia(2019).
The other group consisted of children with imprisoned mothers. They gathered six times a year for a two-day camp. Sometimes they joined the diverse community youth activities such as scouts and local youth clubs.
Recently, 1:1 matching programs are being conducted with underage children of the incarcerated who experience various difficulties due to their parents' imprisonment and reliable adult mentors. (SEUM Partner/Mentoring with Handong University student)
SEUM provides caregivers who have challenges and stresses in raising children of the incarcerated, with telephone counseling and home visiting counseling.
In 2018, we published a Guidebook for the caregivers of the children of the incarcerated and distributed to the concerned people. The Guidebook included Children’s rights of the incarcerated that caregivers should remember. In addition, SEUM provides travel expenses for parents to go on a family trip with their children after they are released from prison. These programs are very helpful in restoring their family relationship.
SEUM helps children and their family to meet their father or mother in prison by providing expenses for the visitation or going to the prison with them.

In addition, supporter group of university students are participating in the advocacy movement through SNS and other activities.
